Photo Competition “The Art of Noticing”

These Competition Terms and Conditions (“T&C”) are provided by Sony Market Development MEA FZCO (“Sony”) for the Photograph Competition themed “The Art of Noticing” (“Competition”).

By entering the Competition, each entrant (“Participant”) acknowledges and affirms that you have read and understood these T&C. The Participant further agrees that these T&C are applicable and shall be binding for any matter or purpose associated with or connected to this Competition, including data practices outlined in the Privacy Policy, available at https://sonyworld.ae/pages/privacy-policy.

It is essential that the Participant read the Privacy Policy to gain a comprehensive understanding of how Sony will utilize personal information.

By entering the Competition, the Participant explicitly consents to the collection, processing, and storage of personal data by Sony, including but not limited to name, contact information, photograph, and identification documents, for the purpose of administering this Competition and promoting its outcomes, in accordance with the Privacy Policy.

1. Competition Period

  • Start Date: July 1, 2025 at 00:01 (UAE time)
  • End Date: July 31, 2025 at 23:59 (UAE time)
  • Sony reserves the right to amend the competition period at its discretion without prior notice.
  • Sony shall not be liable for any failure or delay in conducting the Competition due to circumstances beyond its control, including but not limited to natural disasters, war, government restrictions, or technical failures.

2. Eligibility

  • Participants must be at least 18 years old at the time of entry.
  • Participants must be legal residents of UAE and enrolled in a graduate or undergraduate program in UAE at the time of entry.
  • Participants must register and complete their profile on the Sony World website: https://sonyworld.ae/.
  • Employees of Sony, its affiliates, agencies, and their immediate families are not eligible.

3. Entry Requirements

  • Participants must upload their best original photograph, limited to 1, to their account in Sony World.
  • Entries must be original and your own work.
  • Each photo must be:
    • Accompanied by a caption describing:
      • Camera model, Mobile and lens used
      • ISO, shutter speed, aperture
      • Photography genre
    • Original and unedited (RAW files may be requested) and free of watermarks
    • Not AI-generated or AI-edited
    • Free from third-party trademarks, stock images, or any commercial/promotional content
    • Submitted with the assurance that the participant has full rights over the content and any necessary permissions

4. Winner Selection and Notification

  • Three (3) winners will be selected by Sony’s judging panel based on creativity, technical quality, and storytelling. All decisions are final and binding.
  • The winner will be announced on August 19th, 2025 at 12 PM UAE Time on:
    • The Sony World website
    • Sony’s social media platforms
  • The winner will be contacted by email registered on the Sony World website.
  • The winner must:
    • Respond to Sony’s notification within five (5) days
    • Provide valid government-issued photo ID (passport or Emirates ID) to claim the prize
  • If the winner fails to respond or provide ID, an alternate may be selected.
  • If the prize is declined, Sony reserves the right to cancel or reassign it.

5. Prize

  • The winners will receive:
    • 1st Prize – ILCE-7CM2L
    • 2nd Prize – ILCE-6700L
    • 3rd Prize – ZV-E10M2K
  • The prize is:
    • Non-transferable and non-exchangeable
    • Not redeemable for cash or other alternatives
  • Sony may substitute the prize with an item of equal value at its discretion.
  • The winner must comply with all T&C.

6. Intellectual Property and Rights

  • Participants confirm:
    • They own all rights to the content submitted
    • They have permission from identifiable individuals in the photo (if applicable)
  • Participants grant Sony a worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual license to use, modify, reproduce, display, and distribute submitted content in any media or format.
  • Sony may use images and names for promotional purposes without compensation.

7. Disqualification

  • Sony may disqualify entries that:
    • Violate these T&C
    • Are incomplete, offensive, plagiarized, or fraudulent
    • Fail to meet technical or eligibility requirements
  • Sony is not responsible for lost, invalid, or undelivered entries.
  • Sony may disqualify entries for fraud, misconduct, or breach of rules without liability.

8. Liability and Governing Law

  • Sony is not liable for technical errors or data loss.
  • Participants release Sony from any claims arising from participation or the prize.
  • This Competition is governed by the laws of Dubai, UAE. Disputes shall be subject to Dubai courts.

9. Modifications and Termination

Sony may cancel, suspend, or change the Competition and these T&C at any time without prior notice.
