Product Highlights
- Zoom to 600mm, or 1200 with teleconverter :Compatible with optional 1.4x and 2.0x teleconverters, for a maximum focal length of 840mm or 1200mm at F13. Both teleconverters are top quality, retaining outstanding image quality and AF performance. Zoom and aperture range with the 1.4x teleconverter is 280-840mm, F8-9. With the 2.0x teleconverter the ranges are 400-1200mm, F11-13.
- High resolution throughout the zoom range : Five ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass elements and one aspherical element in a new optical design offer superb resolution and image quality throughout the zoom range. The aspherical element suppresses spherical aberration and distortion, while the ED glass elements minimize chromatic aberration that can be a problem at super-telephoto focal lengths.
- Beautiful, natural G lens bokeh : An 11-blade circular aperture mechanism adds to the beauty of the bokeh produced by this lens, making it possible to use the narrow depth of field available at super-telephoto focal lengths to produce striking images with deep, creamy G lens bokeh.
- Nano AR Coating stops flare and ghosting : Sony’s original Nano AR Coating has a uniform nanometer-level structure that breaks up the lens’s boundary surface, significantly reducing reflections that can cause image-degrading flare and ghosting. The overall result is superior image clarity and contrast. (1. Nano AR Coating / 2.Glass / 3.Transmitted light)
- 3-mode Optical SteadyShot : Optical image Stabilisation makes it easier to shoot sharp images handheld at super-telephoto focal lengths. MODE 2 offers ideal Stabilisation for panned shots, while MODE 32 provides enhanced viewfinder Stabilisation that allows easier framing of erratic sports or wildlife movement. 5-axis Stabilisation is available with compatible α bodies.

Sony SEL200600G FE 200-600mm F5.6-6.3 G OSS
Ive not had the 200-600 for long but from what Ive used it for so far it has been excellent!
Much lighter than the Sigma Sport I was using before with Nikon.
Im sure It will be even better when Ive got more used to the controls.
GREAT LENS FANTASTIC IMAGES AND A GOOD PROCE. ALSO LIGHT IN COMPARISON TO THE NIKON LENS I USED TO USE
Bought this two weeks ago and took it for a day walking around a zoo yesterday. Hand held it and got great results. Easy to hold and move the zoom ring in flight whilst subjects moved closer or further. Very pleased.
I use this lens for aircraft and wildlife photography, replacing a Canon 70-200 with 1.4x convertor. The Sony is heavier and I have now ordered a monopod to go with it. The focus tracking, even in Mode 3 and with the 10m to Infinity setting is a bit randow sometimes, but once locked on to the subject images are crisp and bright.
