The BRAVIA Theater Rear 8 is designed to work with several Sony home theater products, including the BRAVIA Theater Bar 9, Bar 8, Bar 7, HT-A7000, HT-A5000, and HT-A3000. It is also compatible with Sony AV amplifiers such as the STR-AN1000, STR-AZ7000ES, STR-AZ5000ES, STR-AZ3000ES, and STR-AZ1000ES.

Setup is handled through the BRAVIA Connect App. After powering on the rear speakers, use the app to connect them to your compatible soundbar or home theater system without running speaker cables between the components. The BRAVIA Connect app needs to be installed on a smartphone, with both the phone and product connected to the same home network.

Yes. The rear speakers communicate wirelessly with compatible Sony soundbars and AV receivers. Each speaker only requires its own power connection, eliminating the need for audio cables running between the rear speakers and the main system.

When combined with a compatible Sony soundbar, the BRAVIA Theater Rear 8 expands the soundstage with audio coming from behind and around the listening position. With 360 Spatial Sound Mapping and support for Dolby Atmos, the system can create a more immersive surround environment for movies and other compatible content.

Yes. With supported BRAVIA TV models, the rear speakers can connect directly to the television to provide a more expansive surround-sound experience. Direct Connect to BRAVIA compatibility depends on the specific TV model and regional availability.

Supported models include the BRAVIA 5, BRAVIA 7, BRAVIA 9, A90K, BRAVIA 8, A95L, and BRAVIA 8 II. When the Direct Connect to BRAVIA feature is enabled, Voice Zoom and simultaneous audio output to Bluetooth devices are not available.

Yes. The speakers use an internal wireless communication system supporting IEEE 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/ax standards. This includes 802.11ax, commonly known as Wi-Fi 6, helping provide stable wireless communication for audio within a typical home setup.
