The RX10 V comes with a versatile 25x optical zoom and a ZEISS Vario-Sonnar T* 24–600mm F2.4–4 lens, equivalent to 24–600mm in 35mm format. Its range covers wide-angle through super-telephoto perspectives, making it practical for travel, wildlife, and sports photography.

At its core, the RX10 V uses a 20.1MP 1.0-type Exmor RS stacked backside-illuminated CMOS sensor. It works alongside the BIONZ XR image processor and a dedicated AI processing chip to provide fast sensor readout, improved subject detection, and detailed image quality.

With its electronic shutter, the RX10 V can capture continuous bursts at up to 30 frames per second. Blackout-free viewing and continuous AF/AE help maintain tracking during rapid shooting. The Speed Boost function can also provide a temporary increase in burst performance when capturing important moments.

The camera's AI-powered Real-time Recognition AF can identify a wide range of subjects, including people, animals, birds, insects, cars, trains, and airplanes. In Auto mode, the camera can determine the appropriate subject type automatically. Human pose estimation also helps maintain tracking when a person is facing away or wearing items such as a helmet or sunglasses.

For video, the RX10 V can record 4K at 60p using the full sensor width. It also offers 4K recording at 120p with a crop, providing up to 5x 4K slow-motion playback. Full HD recording is available at frame rates up to 240p. S-Cinetone is included for cinematic-looking color, while S-Log3 provides additional flexibility for color grading during post-production.

Yes. Through its USB-C connection, the RX10 V can support livestreaming at resolutions up to 4K 30p while recording at the same time. This allows it to be used as a high-quality webcam. A Micro HDMI output is also available for video connectivity.

Digital zoom can provide additional reach beyond the camera's 25x optical range, but unlike optical zoom, it relies on cropping and upscaling the captured image. Using it excessively can affect image detail and quality. For the best results, digital zoom is generally more useful when used conservatively or at lower resolutions where processing can help preserve detail.

At the wide-angle 24mm setting, the RX10 V can focus from approximately 3cm away and achieve around 0.42x magnification. At the 600mm telephoto end, it can focus as close as about 72cm with magnification reaching approximately 0.49x. This makes it possible to photograph relatively small subjects up close without relying on dedicated macro modes.

The RX10 V is powered by Sony's NP-FZ100 battery. Based on CIPA testing, it can capture approximately 630 still images when using the LCD monitor or around 570 shots when shooting through the viewfinder. Sony's testing indicates that battery stamina is improved by more than 50% compared with the RX10 IV.
